
Katie Mahan
Born in Colorado Katie Mahan began her piano studies at the age of four with her mother, Bobette Mahan.
She gave her first solo recital at the age of six, and has since performed throughout Colorado and the
Rocky Mountain Region, Utah, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Hawaii. She has also performed outside of the
United States in France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Ms. Mahan made her orchestral debut in the summer of
1999 with the Breckenridge Symphony under the baton of Gerhardt Zimmermann performing Gershwin¹s Concerto in F.
She has since performed with several orchestras in Colorado, including recent performances of Brahms'
Concerto in D minor and Ravel's Concerto in G. Her performance of the Ravel Concerto in G with the Denver
Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Horst Buchholz was featured on Colorado radio.
Subsequent radio broadcasts for Ms. Mahan have included Liszt's Sonata in B minor and Debussy Préludes Book 2.
Recent highlights include a solo recital for the Deutsche Schubert Gesellschaft in Duisburg, Germany, as well as
recitals in Mülheim, Germany, and Vallauris, France. Following the success of these recitals, Ms. Mahan has been
invited to perform in Moers, Germany in November 2006. This will be part of a subscription concert series in
honor of the 150 anniversary of Schumann's death. Further solo performances in the 2006-07 season will include
recitals in Munich and Mülheim, Germany, Paris and Epinal, France, and Denver, Colorado. Concerto performances
include appearances with the Timberline Symphony Orchestra and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra.
